Philippine Planetariums

Updated: 13 March 2019

When I was in grade 3 at Baguio city, I remember the mobile planetarium that visited our school. This is one of the thing that fostered my interest for astronomy. Planetarium shows are wonderful, for kids and adults alike. Here is a list of the planetarium's I know of in the Philippines (except for the mobile one whose name I could not recall):

National Museum Planetarium
Also known as Manila Planetarium is one of the branches of National Museum. It is located in Rizal Park, Luneta (in between the Japanese and Chinese Garden). They also manage a mobile planetarium.

PAGASA Planetarium
PAGASA Planetarium is located at the PAGASA Science Garden, Agham Road, Quezon City. PAGASA also operates 5 Mobile Planetariums operating at Northern Luzon, Southern Luzon, NCR, Visayas, and Mindanao.

PSHS-WVC Planetarium
Philippine Science High School - Western Visayas Campus has a 30 seater Planetarium dome on the rooftop of the Science Learning Resource Center.

Exploreum DigiStar-5 Planetarium
The DigiStar 5 Planetarium Dome Theater is located at Exploreum in SM Mall of Asia. It was formerly known as the Nido Science Discovery Center.

Spaceshell
The Mind Museum's The Universe Gallery houses the Spaceshell Planetarium.

Andromeda Mobile Planetarium
Launched in Baguio in 2013, AMP is a mobile planetarium who's primary area of operation is the Cordillera Region.

RTU Mobile Planetarium
Mobile Planetarium operated by the Department of Earth and Space Sciences of Rizal Technological University.

NCeries
The NCeries Space Science Roadshow is a mobile planetarium service (and Oceanarium program) owned by Sen. Niki Coseteng. This was formerly known as SkyXplore SpaceDome Planetarium

Voyager Educational and Events Services
A mobile planetarium and educational service operating in Mindanao (primarily Davao). Unfortunately Voyager is no longer operating it's planetarium service at this time.

SciMath
SciMath Interactives, Inc. Mobile planetarium showcases Albedo full-dome planetarium shows.

Mayon Planetarium and Science Park
Despite the name and outdoor appearance this is not a real planetarium and focuses primarily on volcanic phenomena.

When I came across the Skyxplore site, I originally thought that the mobile planetarium that visited my school back when I was in Elementary (around 10 years ago or so) was SKYXPLORE, however, now that I see the history behind it, I find that skyxplore has just started operations around 2 years ago.

What was the mobile planetarium that visited schools before Skyxplore came into existence?? (yet used similar equipment)

I could seriously recall that as well during my elementary days.. It was part of what fostered my interest for astronomy.. Unfortunately, I could no longer determine what group provided that service to schools..
