I have been fortunate enough to image the comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) (not to be confused with the Comet ZTF C/2020 V2 that is currently in Cassiopeia) over the past few nights. While it is expected to make its closest approach in February 1, I have opted to observe and image it early since the Moon's phase (gibbous) will affect visibility as it passes close to us.
A non-linear meteor trail was caught next to the comet during my first imaging session |
